Services
Each of the services offered is anchored in the belief that to grow and change, we must slow down, feel our bodies, and process what is happening within and around us. Through experienced facilitation, Landing Places provides the just-right containers needed to do the work we sometimes fear but only because we know it will require us to face what matters most. The journey is fulfilling and even joyful when this work is collective and supported.
Coaching
Personalized Support
-
Everyone needs and deserves time and support to process the complexities of their work. One of the best ways to care for educators is through one-on-one dialogue. We create the conditions for individuals to uncover and examine the essential questions of their work through a deep knowledge of schools and other organizations. We sit alongside educators and other professionals as they puzzle through the challenges of their work and hone in on areas for deeper reflection and growth.

New and experienced educators including teachers, administrators, DEI practitioners, and other professionals such as nonprofit leaders and board members.
Dialogue and Affinity
Collective Learning
-
We are guided by a belief in the power of dialogue. We have each been a part of transformative dialogue and know it takes time, strong facilitation, and imagination. When challenges arise, our ability to talk to each other and to settle into truthful and compassionate conversations is our superpower. Affinity spaces are essential and foundational tools for these conversations and for individual and community wellness. Affinity spaces allow people of all backgrounds to access their most authentic selves. They enable us to learn without causing harm, grow our skills, and receive the resources and support we need. We offer a variety of affinity spaces, many of them low-stakes, to gain familiarity with the process. Then, we lean into racial affinity dialogue groups. This process allows for people affected by racism and institutional structures of oppression to experience support and safety, and white-identifying people meet to do their own deep work as part of the current and historically dominant group in our society.

Introduction to Dialogue and Affinity Work
In this workshop, we explore affinity spaces' benefits and expansive possibilities. After grounding the community in the purpose and expectations, we move in and out of various affinity groupings that capture the complexities of our identities with the ultimate goal of better understanding ourselves and each other. Supportive facilitation structures and techniques will allow your community to step into challenging affinity and cross-affinity conversations with curiosity, self-awareness, and clear expectations. Participants will understand better how affinity work can impact overall health, well-being, and aspirations for themselves and their community. After the workshop, you will have a foundation to build upon as you continue to move in and out of affinity spaces of all kinds to deepen relationships and, ultimately, to become the community you imagine together. We hope affinity spaces become a mainstay of your overall community health, both in how they help people to learn and restore and in how they support the coming together in times of challenge and in times of joy.
Navigating the Self: Identity Development Labs
This workshop is held in various affinity configurations and as an entire community. Through structured and expansive exercises, we explore how our core selves, the truest parts of us, are often inhibited and covered by layers of socialization and expectation. We unwind how these socialized habits and ways of being prevent us from leading with our core selves and how we might begin to recognize and shift behaviors that get in the way of the authentic relationships and communities we desire.
Affinity Leadership Training
Facilitating affinity spaces takes skill and practice. In this workshop, we model pedagogically sound and road-tested affinity facilitation strategies. We focus on the internal complexities one must navigate to support participants in affinity work and group dynamics. We share resources and tools that affinity leaders can take with them and put into practice. We also offer follow-up sessions to support affinity leaders as they engage with their groups and questions and challenges arise.

Questions
-
When we don’t settle our bodies and reflect on where we are and what’s happening around us, we cause harm. When we don’t slow down, we sometimes make choices driven by pace and a desire to reach the finish line rather than by listening and paying attention to the wisdom of others. And so, we cannot participate in our communities with the thoughtfulness and care they need and deserve.
-
There are many. Our workplaces and lives are humming along without collective practices to pause and take time to process what we’re up to. We’re surrounded by cultural norms that demand productivity and action. We know slowing down is good for us, but we lament that we don’t have time. We also face active resistance from others when we try to make space for landing. The systems we work within and those who maintain them are rarely interested in slowing down.
-
First, we must admit that flying without a break isn’t healthy for anyone. When we do land, forced by exhaustion and burnout, we stumble and sometimes even crash causing harm to others. We must interrogate the rituals and habits that have us so strung out. How are we using our meeting times? Is there always an expectation of forward progress or a need to take on new ventures? When do we connect about our daily experiences in our work? When do we share stories and pause to ask each other questions? How often do we make space for vulnerability? Through this process, we begin to imagine what new habits and rituals we can engage in and take small, steady steps toward them.
